WELCOME TO THE DREAMLIKE WORLD OF IRINA DZHUL  

ARTIST STATEMENT:   

I see myself as an artist who works at the meeting point of the human spirit and the living world. My practice grows from the belief that one soul moves through every part of nature. I try to follow its shifting presence as it reveals itself in forests, water, mountains, cities, and the human form. Photography is my way of tracing these movements and giving them visible shape. 

The female figure appears again and again as a guide between the visible world and the quieter presence beneath it. She stands as a vessel for the soul. 

EDUCATION: I hold a master’s degree from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv and have over 15 years of experience working as an architect. This background shapes the way I build my fine art scenes: I think through space, form, and light, constructing every detail with precision.

REAL UNREALITY: I create my images using real locations, handmade dresses, and crafted objects — without the use of AI. I develop each concept from idea to realization and make all costumes and decor myself to express the character of the scene.

PREPARATION for a shoot is a separate process for me: sketching, searching for a location, and creating every element needed for the final frame. For me, the making is as important as the result. This is my philosophy — I enjoy the entire journey.

My MISSION is to portray the soul. It appears in every image, because I believe that soul exists in every living being, object, and place.

My VISUAL LANGUAGE is centered around the female figure, which becomes an interpretation of the soul. In the tree series it becomes the soul of a tree; in Nymphs — the breath of the forest; in my urban works — the spirit of the city. The form shifts with the rhythm and energy of the environment, revealing its inner nature.

 STYLE: images that exist between photography and painting, creating atmosphere and artistic depth.
